One of the best hot chocolate drinks I ever had was on our travels to Tulum, Mexico. My husband and I went on a Cocoa tour, where we experienced the entire process of chocolate-from fruit to product. It was eye opening to see the tedious process of how a true form of chocolate is created. During the tour, we tasted what they called the “drink of the gods”, true cocoa drink in it’s purest form. It was rich, intense and tad bit bitter. I will never have the chance to replicate the same drink, but this is the closest I can get. If there is anything in this recipe that you shouldn’t skip out on, it is the dates. The natural sweetness and richness from the fruit, adds a unique taste to this drink.
