My go to liquor lately has been gin, it’s definitely a sophisticated step up from my college vodka days (no offense). Although, every once in a while, I switch it up and create new drink concoctions using the other 20 odd liquors from our bar. You can certainly make this drink with a liquor of your choice, but I do recommend something subtle. I like experimenting with citrus flavors, it checks a lot of boxes-sweet, fruity, strong and refreshing. I’ve been a huge advocate for Elderflower liquor, the mild botanical taste is very refreshing and adds pizzazz to any drink. Mixed in some rum along with a few bar essentials and hence, this recipe was born. A little secret-I only buy grapefruit for it’s juice to use in cocktails. 🙂
Hint: Don’t skip the rosemary garnish, the essence, elevates this recipe.
Floral Gimlet

1/2 Fresh Grapefruit for it’s juice
1 Oz Simple Syrup
1 Oz Lemon Juice
2 Oz White Rum
1 Oz Elder-flower Liquor
Seltzer and a Sprig of Rosemary for Garnish
Directions
- In a shaker, add all ingredients along with ice.
- Shake vigorously for 45 seconds.
- Add ice into a large cocktail glass and pour the drink with a strainer.
- Top off with Seltzer and the rosemary Sprig.
